Horizontal or co-ordinated eAccessibility measures
Here the focus is on whether, in addition to the various sectoral themes discussed above, there are also horizontal or co-ordinated eAccessibility measures that cover a range of sectoral themes or dimensions of eAccessibility.
The Belgian federal government has developed a National Action Plan against the Digital Divide (Plan national de lutte contre la Fracture Numerique). The plan highlights the benefits that ICTs can bring for people with disabilities. It contains two specific commitments regarding eAccessibility:
- Action 26 involves developing a good practice guide on accessibility of ICTs for people with disabilities
- Action 27 makes a commitment that public websites will comply with the requirements of the BlindSurfer label
