Public procurement
Legislation/regulations
The revised EU Public Procurement Directives of 2004 have been transposed directly into Danish law through a 2004 Governmental Order; the full text of the Directives is incorporated into Danish law. The Directives do not yet seem to have triggered direct attention to eAccessibility.
In April 2004 a public procurement accessibility toolbox developed by KIA (National IT and Telecom Agency) was released (http://vkassen.oio.dk). It is not part of the national legislative/regulatory framework but is intended to provide practical assistance to public authorities that wish to incorporate accessibility for disabled persons into their procurement. The toolbox consists of four different standards/guidelines:
- accessible software solutions – software applications and operating systems
- websites – web-based internet information and applications
- hardware solutions
- integrated hardware solutions
The toolbox has been promoted by the National IT and Telecom Agency and the Danish Council of Organisations of Disabled People by communication to the Danish local and regional authorities.
