Legislation/regulations

In March 2007, Presidential Decrees 59/2007 and 60/2007 implementing Directives 2004/17/EC and 2004/18/EC came into force. In this context, technical specifications for contracts can take into account accessibility criteria for people with disabilities and these criteria and social considerations may be included as conditions in the final choice of tenders.

ICT equipment for the public sector and more specifically those purchased under the Operational Program “Information Society” financially supported by the EU Structural Funds are expected to address ICT accessibility, as a result of the Council Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006 and the actions that are currently undertaken to ensure accessibility in all actions supported by the Structural Funds.
