Analogue TV
The “Radio and TV Lawā€¯ (Radio un televÄ«zijas likums) provides that programs transmitted in foreign languages should have subtitles in Latvian but makes no specific provision for subtitling for people with disabilities. In relation to sign language, Article 54, paragraph 4 of this law envisages that within the national remit the public need for broadcasts with sign language translation shall be satisfied. The law does not specifically impose an obligation on the public service broadcaster but itĀ is included in the annual remit, confirmed by the Radio and Television Council. No specific programs or percentage requested: the broadcaster may decide how to carry out this task.
Digital TV
The legal provisions for digital TV do not make any specific accessibility provision.
