Analogue TV
The Lithuanian law on national radio and television (1996, amended on 2005) obliges the national broadcasting company to produce editions for disabled people. However, there are no specific requirements for the implementation and the act does not specify the minimum level nor quantify the requirement.
Article 34 of the Law on Provision of Information to the Public (1996) requires translation/subtitling of foreign-language programmes into Lithuanian, as well as the possibility for the Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania to establish in licensing conditions the requirements for broadcasting in minority languages, though it does not provide direct specifications for subtitling, audio description or sign language for disabled people.
Digital TV
The legislation for analogue TV also covers Digital TV.
Other initiatives
Under an agreement with the Disabled People Association, the public service broadcaster is providing programs with sign language and also some subtitling. Also, broadcasting companies in Lithuania provide some subtitled films.
