Horizontal or co-ordinated eAccessibility measures
Here the focus is on whether, in addition to the various sectoral themes discussed above, there are also horizontal or co-ordinated eAccessibility measures that cover a range of sectoral themes or dimensions of eAccessibility.
The National Programme for the Integration of Disabled [People] 2003–2012 contains a number of actions that impact on eAccessibility. The programme includes an initiative to implement national sign language for 2005-2008 wherein disabled people are to be provided with sign language translators. This measure includes preparation of a sign language computer based dictionary, accessible through the internet.
Also dealt with in the Programme:
- Preparation of electronic means and standards for education of disabled people
- Legal regulation requirements for distributing public information to disabled people
- Recommendations on how communication and information providers can adapt their services to the needs of disabled people
- Development of a universal rehabilitation and reintegration database, which will contain information about disabled people and services for them. This project will be started in 2007 and fully available on the internet. The database will contain a sign language electronic dictionary, e-services for distribution of e-books, and information and educational measures
